Designed specifically for Xbox 360, Ubisoft's Naruto: Rise of a Ninja features a free-roaming Konoha Village and a storyline following Naruto from birth to his humble beginnings as an academy dropout to his early mastery of the ninja profession. In total, the game covers plot points from the anime's first 80 episodes, with players undertaking a variety of quests to learn the wily ways of the ninja. The majority of tasks involve developing Naruto's abilities, such as learning how to climb walls or walk on water, and improving his standing with the townsfolk.
Quests include helping people find missing items, delivering ramen across town, and participating in timed races. Along the way are platform challenges to overcome, from tree jumping to dodging swinging logs. There are also plenty of fighting sequences, where players must defeat bandits on the way to fulfilling missions. Combat involves chaining combos, blocking, and performing timing-based jutsu attacks. In addition to the single-player story mode, players can challenge friends to head-to-head battles with a choice of characters and environments.
