Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter is a side-scrolling action game in which players design and draw their own platform-hopping heroes, using the stylus directly on the touch screen. As in the Nintendo DS original, players create their character by drawing an outline, adding color, and using guidelines to mark off the arms, legs, torso, and head, so that the hero may be properly animated when in action. This time around, hero characters don't need to be human; they can be animals, drawn with four legs (or more!). The hero can morph into a blob or a crawly spider, to reach otherwise inaccessible areas. In The Next Chapter, players can also add game world objects by drawing them directly on the screen, creating ramps and trampolines to help characters on their way (as in the DS classic, Kirby: Canvas Curse). Objects drawn in different colors have different special properties, and the hero must collect special color dots to unlock new abilities. The dastardly Wilfre has returned to bring his stifling darkness to the happy Raposa village, and players must guide their hand-drawn hero through four main worlds of platforming levels, in order to catch up with the villain and free the land from his shadowy control. In addition to the single-player campaign, multiplayer features in the DS version of the game allow players to trade their heroes, weapons, and equipment through a wireless connection.
