One of the most popular
anime franchises in the United States returns to the
PlayStation 2 console for another round of super-powered fighting. While revisiting the colorful presentation and basic 3D fighting gameplay style of 2002's original
Dragon Ball Z: Budokai, the battles of this sequel are bolstered by additional options, more powerful "Ki" energy moves, and new combo attacks. Graphics have a more cel-shaded look, with cartoon-like outlines around characters and objects.
Character models are more detailed here than in the original game and environments are more interactive. Diehard
DBZ fans may appreciate that customized characters and unlocked features from the original game can be transferred to this sequel by memory card. A good thing, too -- contenders may need all the help they can get, as those who prove themselves truly worthy will eventually battle the game's three versions of
Buu in an ultimate contest of strength, speed, skill, and style
