The Proper Introduction to Hank Thompson is a killer 30-cut, single-disc overview of the development and genius of one of country music's greatest honky tonksinger/songwriters. The early tracks here, which come from the early '50s, showcase Thompson trying to find his way in the vein of Hank Williams -- as did all country singers of the era -- and transforming himself into an individual stylist as both a singer and profitable songwriter in the late '50s and early '60s.
